What Happens When Your Freedom Makes Me Uncomfortable?

So for my unbelieving readers, those who do not believe in Jesus as the King of this world, the question from two posts ago is going to be answered.

The question was what happens when your freedom hurts another person, what if you being free actually brings another person into bondage? Was our previous definition of freedom only true if you live in a world all by yourself?

Well, if you read the previous post the truth has already been given away, but I’m going to break it down further.

The freedom of THE royal Family, the one that Jesus is the reigning Prince is a kingdom that is run on justice, loving-kindness and righteousness (doing what’s right in all loving God’s eyes). Your freedom becomes a non-freedom when it is governed by selfishness. That’s pretty blunt but it is true.

We don’t live in a world where there are no other people around, if we all lived that previous definition of freedom based on selfishness we would eventually run into having to choose our self-interest over the best interest of another person. I’m sure you’ve been there; everyone has been there. It happens when we want to do our own thing but somebody needs us, it might be our children, friends or neighbors, and we have to choose between what we want and what they may want or need. Most often than not, if we don’t have a real relationship with God through Jesus we’ll choose ourselves first.

In Liberia, where I was born, there is a saying that ‘among my mother’s children I love myself the best.’ Typical egoistical societal epithets of our true natures. If this is the basis of your life and freedom, it’s not really freedom. And if we live in a world where that is all our type of freedom we will all be living hell on Earth.

Sad thing is that most of our society is actually living a wrong perception of freedom based on selfishness.

Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do about unless you accept Jesus invitation to become part of His family.
